Team Mamil – Casino Royale Charity Night

We are delighted to invite you to a Casino Royale Charity Night on November 16th. Please contact Chris on 07786 194016 for tickets!

MAMILs Are Back

The blog has been quite for a while but the Mamils have still been out and about. After a short break over the summer following the B2B success the team is back in the saddle training for this season’s 2nd challenge – The Beast  !

The team have also done their bit to beat the retail recession – Mad Dog and Poulet Legs have upgraded their steeds and are going faster than ever. Poor Steelie now in semi-retirment although my make an appearance for The Beast

We are also planning some fun – please pencil in Friday November 16th for a charity night out in The Thatch, Croyde. Details to follow shortly.

MAMILs are resting, sort of…

Back soon…

The Beast is out on his MTB on Exmoor tomorrow. Heavy rain and thunderstorms forecasted….

MAMILs in Paris!

MAMILs arrive in Paris and take it by storm!
After 360 long and hard miles, the MAMIL’s completed the B2P 2012 on behalf of North Devon Hospice and Children’s Hospice South West. What had been a relatively incident free tour, went a bit off the rails in Paris. A legendary evening was had at Chez Georges, with staff and customers all joining Team MAMIL for a fun night out. Despite Mad Chien being found wondering around the hotel lobby at 4:00 in the morning, all were present and correct for petit dejeuner.
This ride has been a great experience on behalf of two wonderful causes. Thank you all for your support and donations. There is still plenty of time to give more help either through Virgin Money Giving, or at our fund raising dinner in the autumn (date to be announced), where we trust that Mad Chien will behave himself (fat chance).
Merci beaucoup

We did it! Team Mamil (and teddy…) arrived in Paris mid afternoon yesterday. Total distance over 350 miles with an average speed of 15 mph.

We managed a bit of sightseeing in Versailles on the way and had an excellent meal at Chez George last night (no major scandals…) More to follow.

There is of course still time to make a small donation to support these very worthy causes.

Day 1 and 2

First day started in true Mamil style with two punctures before Tiverton. Rest of the day was good going, very hilly but nothing we haven’t done before!

Cruised the last 30 miles with Clouseau in transient state. Dan the Man did a great job and made sure we got fed in Poole.

We are now in deepest and darkest France after a great ride taking us along Normandy beaches and we had time for delicious lunch designed by Poulet (recipe will be found on the blog after this event…)

We also had barbed wire incident due to an urgent call of nature. Enough detail. Will be fixed with a bit of cream later.

Now about to enjoy some local fayre followed by football although we will probably fall asleep before it ends…

0 days to go…

So we are finally there. At 8.30 on Saturday morning we are off on our 345 mile ride to Paris.

Many have already donated generously, but never fear, there is still time to ease our weary legs by supporting our two chosen charities – Children’s Hospice South West  and North Devon Hospice. It is very easy  – just go to our  Virgin Money Giving site.

We will head off from Barnstaple to Poole (115 miles). No coincidence that the Tour de France have honoured us by starting the TDF 2012 on the same day, although Team MAMIL should beat Team SKY to the Champs Elysees – we hope! Sunday will be from Cherbourg to Caen (90 miles), Monday from Caen to Montes-la-Jolie (105 miles), finishing with a gentle stroll into Paris on the Tuesday (40 miles), arriving in time for a well earned lunch and a glass of vin rouge.

We will post progress updates on Twitter and for you cycle geeks, technology permitting, details on our route on Strava.
